In this article, we’ll take a look at the field trial currently underway at the Yamato Group’s Haneda Chronogate facility, which utilizes autonomous robots from WATT (hereinafter “WATT”), a portfolio company of the KURONEKO Innovation Fund.
Based on the results and insights gained from the demonstration experiment conducted with WATT in 2025, we have introduced a new, further-evolved robot model and are conducting endurance tests involving continuous delivery operations and extended periods of operation within a simulated apartment complex environment recreated inside Haneda Chronogate.
This initiative aims to automate and streamline last-mile deliveries in apartment complexes and similar settings, with the goal of conducting further technical validation and ensuring a clear path toward real-world implementation.

It repeats a series of delivery actions, such as opening and closing doors, avoiding obstacles, and smoothly navigating to the target residence. We conduct long-duration continuous operation tests simulating real-world delivery environments to verify the durability of both the hardware and software, as well as their error detection and recovery capabilities.

By combining the Yamato Group’s logistics expertise and assets with WATT’s robotics technology, we will gain highly effective data and insights tailored to on-site operations.
The KURONEKO Innovation Fund will continue to promote open innovation through strong co-creation partnerships with innovative startups, including WATT.
